Mother’s Day Brunch

Whatever else is unsure in this stinking dunghill of a world a mother’s love is not. ~James Joyce
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!!  Whether it’s your first or you’ve lost count, I salute you for doing the hardest and most important job on earth!

I have a confession — I love brunch parties as much as I love cocktail parties so when my daughter said, “Maa, I want to throw you a mother’s day brunch party” it was gift in itself. Though it meant I’d do most of the work, who says there’s a “right way” to celebrate mother’s day?  I’m allowed to do what I love, and that is to entertain in style!

Here is a brunch table designed by my kids and executed by me. And thanks to my hubby for all the help in the kitchen, killer mimosas, AND those lovely jewels around my neck!

Budget-friendly Holiday Tablescape

Wow your guests this holiday season with a simple, elegant, budget-friendly tablescape.
Budgets tighten up when the holidays roll around… between buying gifts, throwing parties, vacationing and taking time off work, your decoration budget may be small or even nonexistent. Don’t let a small bankroll add to your holiday stress! No need to break the bank, be resourceful, use things around the house… you’ll be surprised how your tablescape will come together. Remember to have fun. It’s not about how much money goes into your tablescape but more about the creativity. Your friends and family will appreciate the time and care that went into the finished product more than an expensive, elaborate set up.
Simplest things like personalizing wine glasses can serve multiple purposes — you can use them as place-cards so that your guests have assigned seating, also, use them in place for wine glass charms so the drinks don’t get mixed up and more importantly your guests will feel extra special!
Tie a whimsical ornament in place of expensive napkin rings. It’ll be a great conversation starter.
Here is a simple yet elegant centerpiece… I borrowed some holiday ornaments from my Christmas tree and a silver snack boat that I had sitting on one of my end tables.
Last but not least, a gorgeous Holiday cocktail ~
1 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Amaretto
3 oz Cranberry juice
1 Jingle-bell gumdrop

Fashionista in Paris

Ooh la la… A “Fashionista in Paris” themed celebration as Mademoiselle Zara Elizabeth Kai turns 1!

So about a month ago, my lovely fashionista friend Chaitali who I went to elementary school with called me to help her style her daughter Zara’s 1st birthday party — of course I was super excited! She wanted to take advantage and choose a Parisian-themed birthday party while she still has full say over her daughter’s birthday theme. We chose a traditional Parisian color palette of black and light pink. Chaitali has always inspired me when it comes to fashion, so I thought it would be perfect to style a “Fashionista in Paris” themed party — it was only fitting! The party turned out fabulously! Little Zara was surrounded by beautiful petite pastries and more importantly, she was surrounded by people who love her.

Pirate Party

Ahoy there, me hearties!!! Round up your gold and treasure… it’s Samay’s pirate birthday party we’re havin’!

The cutest little boy in the whole wide world turned 4 this month – celebrating his birthday is an absolute delight as we mark another year he filled our lives with joy! My little guy’s special day falls around Halloween… so what better time to have a pirate-themed party! It got all the children in the spirit of Halloween, everyone had such a blast dressing up! Even the adults enjoyed swaggering about for an afternoon, growling “Ye’ scrurvy dog!” & “Arrrgh, matey!”

As the children entered they were invited to the accessory station where they had a chance to get into the pirate gears and play their part for the party. The kids chose from a wide array of pirate accessories like foam swords, skull bandanas, eerie eye patches, hook-for-a-hand, skull & bone tattoos and more! Once they were dressed, they sat down for their pirate grub and grog. Afterwards, they played some fun games like “pass the skull”, “pick up jewels by a hook” & “walk the plank”. This definitely turned out to be a party that everyone enjoyed!

This party is full of pirate adventure and party inspiration! I hope you enjoy viewing the photos as much as I enjoyed styling this party. It is by far my favorite themed party we’ve had so far! With Captain Samay leading the way, these little pirates enjoyed a day of fun in the high seas.

Arrrrrrrrrrgh, matey! I never thought in my wildest dreams we would have over a foot of snow in Oct. All the guests had already arrived and couldn’t leave until the next day… We had an after-party and that turned into a sleepover! What a memorable and fun-filled birthday!

Preppy Nautical Party

Come, sail away…

I’m so excited to share with you all the photos from my preppy nautical themed party with a ton of seaside flavor. Done in a classic navy, red and white color scheme. This party would be perfect for a little boy’s birthday party or baby shower or a “sail away” graduation party!

I worked in collaboration with Nicole Taylor photography and once again with her magic touch all of it came alive!

Garden Yogurt Bar

Check out this shabby chic garden-themed yogurt bar picnic with the volume turned up! It was a casual play-date party where kids celebrated summer and had some healthy and some not so healthy treats (I had to include my famous red velvet cupcakes and cakepops to the yogurt bar)!
If you think, we needed an actual garden, you couldn’t be more wrong! The flowers, the treats, the decorations… everything was designed for maximum visual impact! We can easily recycle the concept for a bridal shower, baby shower or even a birthday party.

Saheli’s Fancy Birthday Soirée

Bonjour!

My little girl, Saheli turned six this summer. Everyone tells you how fast the time flies when your children are small and it’s so true. She’s my first, my cupcake, my little love. This Fancy Parisian Soirée was a fun party inspired by one of my daughter’s favorite books, Fancy Nancy.

I love small scale/intimate affair with big aspirations, so that we don’t take the focus away from the kids and turn it into an adult only party. I mostly plan parties for my children to have wonderful experiences and lovely memories, but I also plan these parties because I truly enjoy it.

I put in a lot of hours hand-crafting each and every detail… from B’day banner, edible cupcake toppers, decorating staircase, windows, backdrop for the dessert table and personalizing table settings & favor bags for the birthday girl and her little guests. It was a lot of work but I had a complete blast and so did my daughter and her friends.
Here are some photos by a very talented friend and a photographer at Nicole Taylor Photography

On the day of the party, Saheli greeted all of her little guests at the door and escorted them to her fancy fashion boutique, so that they can all get fancy-fied in their darling tutus couture, fluffy feather boas, pretty hairbands, pearl necklaces, sparkling rings, bracelets, purses and more… for a show stopping fashion show.Bonjour

Father’s Day Tablescape

Who says Dads don’t care about nice looking surroundings… father of my beautiful kids certainly eats with his eyes first and most definitely cares about nice looking surroundings. In our home, mother’s day has always dominated, so this Father’s day we (my kids & I) wanted to do something that my husband really appreciates — A NICE BREAKFAST with his family. With simplicity, sophistication & champagne in mind I prepared a lovely breakfast menu and crisp tablescape with a whimsical centerpiece.
